A little late, but who's counting.
I'm not exactly sure how I had envisioned Mother's Day (weekend). Just having the time to spend with my little monkey is good enough for me. BUT...I did NOT expect this.
Now that I've got your ears perked up...the STOMACH BUG infiltrated our house on Mother's Day weekend. It started at 2 AM early Saturday morning when I hear Caroline coughing in her sleep. Not just any cough. THE cough. I jump up and sure enough, she was sitting up throwing up in her big girl bed. She was so pitiful. And it stunk.
After we changed her sheets, she thankfully went back to sleep. But, 10 minutes later, I hear the coughing again. She threw up again, we changed the sheets and then REPEAT two more times. Once I was out of sheets, she and I slept in the recliner til the next morning.
All day Saturday, she had runny diapers, continued to throw up and wouldn't eat a thing. But, at least she was drinking! She had a peaceful night Saturday night, but her mommy and daddy did NOT. I'll spare you the details.
Needless to say, on Sunday thankfully Wally and I were just recovering - it didn't last long at all for us. But, poor little Caroline...she suffered through Tuesday with this nasty bug. This was by far the worst little bug she's ever had. The two of us just lounged around the house all day feeling puny. Wally was able to join his family for their Mother's Day get-together, but Caroline and I had to bow out this year. We couldn't risk spreading this nastiness around!
So, that was my Mother's Day - washing sheets, changing clothes, throwing out diapers and wiping up throw up. But, isn't that what being a mother is all about???
