Caroline's Fourth Birthday

Four years old.  I can't believe it.  (Well, now it's four years, one month and a few days...but who's counting....)  It seems like yesterday I was holding my baby for the first time.  What a wonderful, beautiful four years it's been!

This was the first year that Caroline was excited about her birthday.  Ha - not that she wasn't excited the years prior - but I think this is the first year she "got it".  I put some balloons in her room and taped up her door with crepe paper.  I was a little nervous about wrapping her door because she has a bad habit of getting out of bed in the middle of the night and coming into our room.  The last thing I wanted to do was scare her.  And sure enough, she tapped me on my shoulder at 1AM and said "Who did that to my room?!?!"  Sleepy, confused and irritated all wrapped up in one tiny little package.

So, this is what four years old looks like, huh?  We celebrated with a real, cooked breakfast of cinnamon rolls.  It was quite a change from the normal waffles/Nutrigrain bars/dry cereal mornings every other day of the week. Daddy even woke up to join us!

And, again, since I like comparison shots...I hope I can continue this picture until she's 10.  If she'll let me.  We'll run out of fingers after that point...  Last year was taken at iHop.

And speaking of iHop, we went there this year, as well, for dinner.  That's about the only place I know of that Caroline will eat something.  Who doesn't like pancakes.  Well, she ate I think 2 of her silver dollar pancakes.  She's my little bird, that's for sure.  We met up with alllll the Martins, Aunt T, Tanner & Collier who came down just for Caroline's party!

After we got home, it was time for presents and cake!  I have to admit, my mind wasn't here for Caroline's birthday.  My grandmama was in the hospital in Columbia not doing well and that's all I could think about. I mustered through what should have been (and was) a joyous day but my thoughts were elsewhere.

We kept the gifts low-key again this year.  I know the presents will be getting bigger and better as she gets older.  So, we're trying to keep it manageable now while we can!  What is it with her little picture poses?  Such a ham!

So, here's the thing.  All Caroline wanted for her birthday was a "pretend pony that {she} could sleep with".  ????  Really?  Ummm, that came kinda outta left field, but OK.  So, I sent Wally to the Disney Store to pick up the horse from Tangled...her favorite movie.  Well, the sweet Daddy that he is, he picked up Rapunzel as well.  Don't you know that little turkey was SO excited about her Rapunzel doll and has had nothing to do with the horse we gave her.  I'm so glad we got her expression caught on camera.  It was priceless!

We also got her an outdoor play house (not pictured) and this real life miniture stroller.  Not like one of those cheapy doll baby strollers - you know, like the 3 we've gone through already - but this one is like a real stroller.  She LOVES it!  And so does Anna, actually.  She said "Look!  It says 4!!!! That's hold old I am!!!!"

After presents, we ate some yummy ice cream cake from Bruster's and called it a night!!!
