Potty Training: Day 2 (First Day at School)

Ok, just as I suspected, Caroline did not wake up dry on Monday morning. What really happened was - I got up myself at 1 AM (because, let's face it, you don't need to be 9 months pregnant to have something sitting on your bladder) and while I was up, I went to check on Caroline's status. Sure enough, she wet the bed but it obviously didn't bother her one bit. So, I changed her in her sleep, removed a towel and went back to sleep.

The good news is that when she woke up at 6:30 the next morning, she WAS dry! HOORAY! And got up and pottied immediately! So, an hour later, off to school we went. With 10 pair of undies, 2 extra outfits (to add to the 3 extra outfits at school) and a hope and a prayer. Eek!

I called the school at about 10:45 Monday morning to check on her and she had only had one accident thus far. Great news. But, apparently the afternoon didn't go that well. She came home with 3 dirty outfits (and wet socks...add that to my list for Tuesday's bag). Baby steps.

That evening was hectic, by my own doing. We made plans to go to dinner with the Martin's and all the kids so I knew I might be getting myself into something that I probably didn't need to. But, I stuck to my guns and went with an arsenal of clothes, SOCKS and undies.

As soon as we got to the restaurant, I attempted to take Caroline to the potty. But, that was the first time she sat on a big one and was terrified. Meaning no potty. I took her about 10 minutes later and she decided it wasn't that big of a deal and went. Success again! Oh, but that was the last of the night. She pottied twice in her booster seat and once on me on the way to the bathroom. Fail.

By that time, we were done with dinner and was ready to let the kids run around in the arcade. Against my better judgement (although, I was thinking of the "sanitation" issue), I put a diaper on Caroline over her undies. That way if she went, she would at least be uncomfortable. That'll show her. Ha...joke's on me. She went and wasn't uncomfortable. I changed her one last time at the restaurant and by the time we got home, she was still dry. She did refuse to go before bedtime, but we did the same as the night before - no diapers and two towels.
