Surprise!

It's not much of a surprise anymore! Since I've announced this about two weeks ago, but who's counting?

Baby Doyle #2 is due January 1, 2012!!!!

We were just as shocked as you are. Kind of. It's been a long six months of watching the calendar and lo and behold, the month we decide to relax our minds and wait a few months to regroup...I get pregnant! I'd be lying if I didn't say I was starting to get a little stressed. We got pregnant with Caroline so quickly and easily that I naively expected the same this time around. But since I'm working with "a man down" or "half a working system" (both per Wally; and as a result of my first pregnancy before Caroline) I guess it took a little longer than before.

We've had multiple doctor's appointments, two rounds of bloodwork, two ultrasounds and have seen the heartbeat. So far, everything looks perfect. My next appointment on Monday, June 20th.

January 1st is actually the third due date that's been assigned to me. My original due date was December 25th based on...well...you know how they calculate that. But, when I went for my first ultrasound, the tech immediately said "Your bloodwork numbers do not match your due date." And sure enough, we could tell that I wasn't as far along as I thought I was. Which pushed my due date back to January 4th.

But, since all she could see on the ultrasound was the yolk sack and no visible "fetus" at this point, January 4th was a shot in the dark. She scheduled me for a repeat scan 10 days later where we saw the actual baby and my due date was adjusted to January 1st after it was measured.

I have been feeling fairly good. Somethings I have forgotten since being pregnant with Caroline. Somethings are different from when I was pregnant with Caroline. But, comparatively speaking this one has been fairly similar to the last one. I haven't been feeling 100%, but knock on wood, I have yet to get sick.

That is, aside from the stomach bug that went around our house twice, two horrible sinus infections (and two rounds of pregnancy-approved antibiotics) and something that went around my work that caused a fever and body aches. But, who's counting right? Pregnancy-wise...I've been doing great.

I am nervous about my weight gain. I lost about 20 pounds before I got pregnant being on Weight Watchers. And I'm scared of gaining all that weight back quickly and then some. But, so far I've done pretty good. I still can't eat anything and everything because I have a "full" feeling most of the day. But, sometimes the "starving" feeling takes over and I eat what is closest.

For being 11 weeks along (as of Sunday, 6/12), I feel like I am beginning to show. I don't remember it being this early with Caroline, but I've been told repeatedly that you show earlier the second time around. I think it's more of where I gain my weight anyways and not really a "pregnancy bump" but don't think I haven't pulled out the maternity clothes already! I've washed them, folded them and sorted them by season!

Thanks for the prayers, well wishes and for sticking it out through this long post. I've documented all of this mainly for my sake for when my memory starts to go (hello midnight feedings!), but I am still an open book and will share as much as I can with my friends and family.
