It’s no secret – I hate the beach (as noted here) but I would never pass up a chance for Caroline to hang out with her friend, Sadie Smathers!! I met Brooke, Sadie’s mom, at my oldest, bestest friend, Kristen’s wedding a couple of years ago and we reconnected thru Facebook last year as we shared many, many pregnancy stories – both good ones & bad ones! Brooke’s aunt lives here in Carolina Forest and Brooke was sweet enough to invite us to join them at the beach on Friday!
I can count on one hand how many times I went to the beach sans-baby. Not a quick trip. But, I can tell you this – it’s REALLY NOT easy to go with a child. It took me about an hour to get everything prepared – lunch, sunscreen, bathing suit, little swimmers, more sunscreen, lots of juice…you get the picture. Two hours later, I think our toes were in the sand. And hands. And the sand was in Caroline’s mouth…again….
Thankfully it was very overcast and I never got over-paranoid about exposure to the sun (for both Caroline and myself – it’s not easing being a pale princess). Neither of the girls LOVED the water, but they both really enjoyed playing in the sand with all their beach toys.

they are too cute!!!!! you did pretty good for someone who hates the beach-you even sat in the sand-i feel very special :)
Oooh, I can't stand getting sand on me, especially after lathering up with sunscreen! Caroline took it well, she loves the sand.
